How it all started....

This is a sample drawing of how Jeannine and I collaborated on making the drawings for Pickle's blog. We would talk about what had happened in that day's event and she would would roughly sketch out or write out her ideas and I would reinterpret visually or try to simplify the idea in drawings. Folks, thanks for dropping by every now and then on this blog....I know I haven't posted much since Pickle passed on but this will be our last post so in closing.... THANK YOU...THANK YOU VERY MUCH.....

Our Good friend Ronnie Williford sent us this drawing he had done of Pickle. Ronnie is a brillant artist and really captured Pickle's personality. He also sums it up really well how Pickle has touched us.

Was visiting the Pickle blog yesterday and found the note on Pickle passing on Dec. 8th. We are both so sorry about that. What a little icon he had become. I know pets are supposed to die and that he in particular was pretty old to begin with, but it crushes my heart anyway. You know, soldiers die overseas everyday, presidents, movie stars and singers have all died this Xmas, and all I care about is the passing of a hacking, farting loaf of gray hair and bad breath. Thanks for letting us share in his world. You guys did a great job watching over him for his autumn years... I guess it's time he watch over you now for awhile. "

Dear Friends,

On Dec. 8 our beloved Pickle passed away in his sleep.
We rescued and adopted Pickle from a shelter in Florida almost five years ago now. He was an old dog that no one wanted because of his health and age . We saw otherwise and knew that everyone deserves a second chance.
I believe Pickle knew this as well...he wasn't willing to call it quits just yet. He had so much to say literally and so much love to give. He gave us five wonderful years.
He became my muse and my best friend...I'm glad I started this blog for him when we did, I guess I knew time was of the essence. I know that Pickle will always be with us...his memory will live on in the works that we do.

We love you Pickle....

The Man who planted trees....

I had done a previous blog called "The dog who planted trees", based on my favorite animated short and my favorite animator Frederic Back. My good friend Charles Solomon suggested I send the drawing to Frederic and I gladly did so. This drawing was sent back to me from Frederic as a response.....I almost fell over when I saw it. It is truly an honor to be given such a beautiful gift. Thank you Frederic and thank you Chas....

For those of you who haven't seen "The man who planted trees" I highly recommend it....it is very inspiring and very humbling.

.....''I just discovered a great newspaper for Pets and their People.'' It's called ''Fetch'' the Paper.

..I read a great article in last months ''Fetch'' the paper. It was about how Dogs don't have Consciences....a conscience requires the ability to think through implications of a future or past action. ''Kinda like having a Jiminy Cricket from Pinnochio inside your head telling you the difference between right and wrong.
I wish I had one of these Jiminys in my head...I wouldn't get into so much trouble now and then. Maybe that's what's troubling some Humans nowadays-they've lost their Jiminys too!...I sure hope they get it back, there's always hope...unlike us critters, you can't get back what you don't already have.

Humans are a little harder to figure out.

This is Cotton...Dr.Lian and my human Mom worked on him almost every day for four months to save his legs. He is big now and and has gotten adopted . Thanks to my human Mom and Dr. Lian.

I know how hard it is to find a really good Vet.Thankfully we have a great one.

It SNOWED today...in LA????we got 2inches of snow everywhere.Just when you think you've live it all, life always gives you surprises...

I always think of time travel when I lay in bed.I think about how I'm thinking in the future about being in this exact moment in time and think to myself I've just traveled back in time and am thankful for being in this very moment again.

...ever have strange thoughts go thru your head as you lay in bed.

So here we go....

You're probably wondering why they call me Pickle.Well when my human first discovered me (This is kinda embarassing),
I was a little overweight. She thought I looked like a cucumber,I don't really mind.As long as they feed me, they can call me whatever they want.(I only respond to food anyway).
